Effective DIY Hair Masks Using Ingredients from Your Pantry or Fridge

With the Covid-19 pandemic closing the majority of the shops, you’ll find yourself scrambling to find what can help you regain your healthy locks without the assistance of your favorite salon staffer. Good thing there are hair masks that you can try at home – bonus: you only need to use what you can find in your pantry because let’s admit it, everyone has limited resources.

Coconut Oil Hair Mask

Coconut oil is a wonder product that is good for almost everything. It’s not simply consumed as food but it can also be applied to your skin and even hair as a moisturizer. Take half a cup of coconut oil, squeeze out half a lemon, and add an egg to the mixture. Nico Reyes of Insider said these ingredients will leave your hair looking shiny, remove chemical residues, and repair damaged locks.

It may look a little mushy but this potion will greatly help you achieve healthy-looking hair. After leaving it on for hours, you’ll notice shinier and less dull mane!

Banana, Yogurt, And Honey Hair Mask

Bananas are good for your health … and hair. These fruits have the mineral silica, which boosts your body’s production of collagen that can make your locks stronger and thicker.

That’s not all, Healthline explained that these yummy and yellow fruits can help reduce flaky and dry scalp, thanks to their antimicrobial properties. This is why hair masks that you often see in beauty shops contain bananas/extracts.

Begin by mushing a banana – if you find this hard to do manually, you can use a blender to make sure it becomes paste-like. Then, add two tablespoons of yogurt, which has been found to rejuvenate locks and helps avoid split ends.

Finally, add one tablespoon of honey, a common ingredient found in hair masks because it has humectant properties, which means it helps retain water, leaving your mane moisturized. Apply this to your head and although it will feel sticky, you’ll notice less frizz after washing!

Avocado Hair Mask

Avocado is great on your sandwich but it can also leave your hair soft and silky. These fruits are extremely moisturizing because of its natural oils and fatty acids content.

If you are blessed with naturally curly hair, this hair mask is perfect for you. All you need to do is to scoop the avocado meat, then add mayonnaise, which also has fatty acids.

Finally, take two tablespoons of olive oil, which is known for its antioxidant properties, and add this to the mixture. Blend all these ingredients, apply to your hair, and leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes.

The scent of the mayonnaise may be overpowering and may stick to your hair for a while, but you’ll definitely feel softer, bouncier curls afterward.
